What kinds of services do we offer?

This question feels both very straightforward and very complicated. On the one hand, I can quickly rattle off categories of services and products we offer (in no particular order):

But that doesn’t really feel like it answers the whole question, does it? So, let’s delve a little deeper.

 

Training

With decades of experience providing training to health professionals, academics, community partners, and learners of all levels, this is an easy place to start. While we do offer some knowledge-based trainings (e.g., antiracism, structural bias, inclusive hiring and personnel management, equity-centered leadership), our specialty is providing trainings that build skills to center equity throughout organizations and professional practice. Some of my faves include:

  • decolonizing learning spaces

  • operationalizing equity – measures, evaluations, and accountability

  • analyzing workplace policies and practices for equity

  • developing an equity action plan

  • integrating inclusive practices into performance evaluations

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it does give you a sense of the flavor that we offer. Trainings are typically offered in groups of 20-30 participants and $2k-5k for standalone trainings. Strategic Planning

There’s a lot to think about when it comes to integrating equity throughout systems - systems of practice for professionals, research agendas, or operations for organizations. For many we’ve worked with, individuals and groups have often done some learning and work on their own but are unclear as to where to go or how to organize efforts in a coordinated or strategic way. That’s where we come in! From figuring out what to do with what you’ve learned to coordinating and communicating efforts across sectors of a complex organization to responding to difficult situations, we can help you develop plans for all of it.

One-hour consultations are $200. Longer term contracts are negotiable. Contact us directly if you are interested in setting up a consultation.

 

Coaching

Closely related to strategic planning is coaching. Whereas our strategic planning services are geared to help you create a map, our coaching services are there to help you follow the map you have. In addition to one-hour consultations, we offer coaching packages ranging from three months to a year. We begin by assessing your goals, strengths, and weaknesses and move on to follow a coaching plan that builds skills in the areas you want to integrate a stronger sense of equity or develop further equity skills. Meeting on a weekly basis, we help you work through ongoing challenges, respond to emerging situations, and plan for your own continued growth after coaching has concluded. Research & Evaluation

We specialize in data-driven solutions to complex equity problems. Whether you need a formative evaluation of your organization conducted, want to analyze policies to identify ways to integrate equity more effectively, or are seeking a subject matter expert for your next grant, we are here to help. While we lead with race, our data methods privilege an intersectional approach. We offer mixed methods, quantitative, and qualitative solutions that run the gamut of data - including literature reviews, study design, ethnographic methods, multilevel modeling, analyses, and reporting. Curriculum Development

Would creating knowledge be complete without also offering to disseminate that knowledge via teaching and learning? We focus on helping develop curricula for:

  • workforce development

  • higher education (particularly graduate and professional programs)

  • community-based practitioners

  • researcher training

In addition to helping instructors at all levels and organizations develop curricula around many equity-related topics, we also provide pedagogical and instructional training to those who want to more explicitly foster inclusive learning spaces. Of note, our pedagogical approach centers on the conscientization work of Paulo Freire, bell hooks, and Sara Ahmed. Technical Writing

Writing about equity is one of those tricky topics in that many people think it’s intuitive and doesn’t require any special training. Until we try to do it that is. (Not unlike me trying to make something on the pottery wheel big enough for my overgrown pothos.)

Equity work often draws from a variety of highly specialized fields and aims to thread the needle between highly technical forms of knowing and broadly relatable ways of communicating concepts that resonate with broad audiences. In addition to working with clients to produce technical documents, we offer training on how to make your own writing more inclusive and continually center equity in your own writing practice.
